for writing on  13.12.18 the year fours were doing writing about the Grinch and after that we were aloud to do a crossword puzzle the is a photo of what it looked like.

 I think the theme of the story is it does not matter if you don’t get and presents it is about spending time with friends and family.

I think Christmas is about having fun not worrying about anything.

I think Dr Seuss is trying to tell you that you can have Christmas without presents.

I think Christmas is about having a great time.

I think Christmas is a fun time and you can relax if your kinda busy.

Today we are going to speak in the language of the country we choose in the summer learning journey. I choose to go to Australia they speak the language of English there.

There are three phrases that we need to know.
It is English!

Then we had to add a photo of how we would feel if we where in a different country and we didn't know what they were saying to me.

I would be a little freaked out and I would probably be fainting if I didn't know what they where saying.

kennings

in writing with Mrs mcg we learnt about kenning poems. they are an old Nordic style poem. they have 8 lines and always has a noun and the last word always end in er.

 first we put the letter a in the start of the three words then we found a word that described the animal last we looked for a word that ended in er. 

the spider one was fun because we had to think up some words and just put them in a little sentence.

the most challenging thin i found was that we had to think up our own words that described our animal.

A chemical reaction is something that happens when you mix two ingredients together. i found it challenging remembering the ingredients. this term we have been cooking some things up. first we made jelly next hokey pokey then we made dinner creme mints after we made vanilla cake.

for calendar art this week we have learnt to blend colors with paint it was hard because we had to use paint and sketch but I really enjoyed painting but i found it hard to paint the picture it worked out i liked it because it was hard and challenging.

HOKEY POKEY writing!

Once upon a time there was a Kingdom of hokey pokey and a knight
of Butt-burg it was a Kingdom to. They were in peace until the King of
Dumbness came to the different kingdoms. He commanded them to
move but they didn't want to move. So they started a war over the two
kingdoms and all of them died. But they came back alive by a magical
angel…... nah just kidding! They were brought to hell by an evil devil called
death master. Then they met a swag dragon called Swag Bro they were
terrified but they got to go to Fortnight land and they got a golden scar.
Then they went back to the normal world and it was all back to the present.

novels

this term we have been reading some really cool, really interesting novels these were the names of the novels: moving on,run away alien and the mistery at number seven.

the mistery at number seven was my favorite it was about a gang called the ABC gang. There is a new neighbor and they think that she's a mermaid and they were invited to come to her house to meat her but they are rong.

my second favorite was run away alien not because of the alien but because he likes water i'm the same. Cause when my mum takes me to kiakora i instantly jump in the pool when she says i can.

moving on was my less favorite because it talks about parents braking up and i don't like story's like that.

weather

at school we learned Maori weather words. first we had to learn a sentence and this is how it went
Kei te pehea te ahua o te rangi?. That was the start of each slide it meant what is the weather like. Then we had to translate seven weather words in Maori. we created a slide and we put all the words together in a big sentence.

Hokey Pokey

Is a delicious dessert or treat to get from anybody. it was also made in 1950 which kinda makes it
a special thing i guess. Cadbury made a crunchie bar out of hokey pokey covered in chocolate
its in favorite boxes to.

First we measured ½ a cup of sugar and ¼ cup of golden syrup and we put it in a medium sized pot
on the stove. Then we mixed it for 1 long lasting minute.

then we put some baking soda into the golden syrup and sugar.
after we sturd it for another 2 minutes, after we put the baking soda in the mixture it turned a different color
and it turned a bit puffy and a bit thicker.

The chemical reaction was caused by carbon dioxide which is what we breathe out.

I can not wait to try the Hokey Pokey because itś a treat but at school itś more of
a treat than ANYTHING!!!!!!!!

Procedure

1. It looked like the water was changing color like army

First we put some jelly crystals with boiling water then the jelly crystals
dissolved and then we put it in the fridge for a week.

this is all my knowledge about weather if you know anything else can you please tell me. because i'd really like it if you could tell me just a bit more.

scissors

Scissors are amazing! they are made of hard metal they also have hand holes they cut paper but you have to use them in care!. Also they can come in many different colours shapes sizes and angles. these are the steps to use scissors.

• First you put your hand that you write with in the hand holes and open them then closepress them together in a piece of paper

• Next it will cut the amount of paper that the blades are touching.

• Then repeat the process

THE LIGHTNING GOD

on the first week of term two i started making this with Cameron and treyvon. it was really fun and i thought the challenging part was this video.

for the next two weeks i will be learning about the biggest celebration on earth all i know is that they dress up in costumes and that they have big messy floats if you know any thing please tell me it would be much appreciated.

Title -  Measurement

For our strand Maths we have been looking at measurement.

We have learnt that 1 metre equals 100 cm and that there are 1000 metres in a kilometre.

We have also learned how to measure objects around our school.

The most challenging thing about measuring is measuring by mms. The activity I enjoyed most was measuring with a group.

My group measured the length of the lunch seats under the shades. and it was 1 meter . 57. This measurement can also be written as 1570mms.

my favorite part of measuring is that its hard and challenging also you can choose anything you want to measure.

chinese new year

we learned about Chinese new year and this is what i did.

The zodiac is a chinese legend that one knows its weakness but one day an old man came to china and told everyone its weakness and it is scared of fire loud noises and red so every chinese new year kids grandads give them lucky money in a red envelope and the grand master said that's it we need some lucky animals so he put on a race it went like this

matariki

i learned about matariki for the last two weeks. i found out that some people call matariki gods eyes or tiny eyes. i did a cross word it took me two days and it was hard.

learn a different laguage

I think it's good to learn a different language because if your best friend talk's a different language you would be able to understand them.

Anzac day feelings

My feelings about Anzac day

I feel sad about Anzac day for all of the people that died in the last two world wars  I wish I could se them in real life with all of thier shiny medals.

I hope some day I will be able to se them in action.
